I had this for breakfast this morning. It just sounded good so I threw some ingredients together. It's better than plain oatmeal, but still super healthy. It's also weight loss friendly and will fill you up. I had it all stylized for a gorgous picture, but my camera was out of batteries. I really need to stay on top of that! Picture coming.
1 Cup rolled oats
2 Cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon stevia granuals (mine had some filler and suggested 1/3 teaspoon for a serving.)
1 cup blueberries (I used frozen wild blueberries from Costco)
Combine all but the blueberries in a sauce pan and mix with a large wisk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbling. Remove from heat and stir in blueberries. Serve with a dallop of whipped topping or vanilla yogurt.
Yields 3 cups of custard. 1 serving, 1 1/2 cups (without topping) is 334 calories, 79 g carbs (including 8 g fiber), 5 g fat, and 18 g protein.
I'm trying to stick to a 1200 calorie diet and exercise daily to shed my extra 15 pounds. That gives me about 300 calories for breakfast, 400 for lunch and 500 for dinner. I'm choosing my snacks from the raw veggies and fruits that are on the zero calorie list. (They burn more calories than they contain.) It's only been 2 days, but I do feel pretty good. I have trouble sticking to something like this--but now that I've made it public . . .
