This is gorgeous! It's almost enough to make me want to take up knitting. hmm... dare I try?

Oh, you definitely should take up knitting--grin. I've been a crocheter since I was 7, but found some lovely knitting patterns a few years ago and decided to try to learn. I used youtube videos to learn how to cast on, knit, and purl. To follow patterns it helps to know how to slip a stitch, knit 2 together, increase, and bind off. Just play around and learn 1 thing at a time.
